Job Description

An Observability Consultant within the ALM team in our customers organisation is a leader and wears many hats, able to look at the bigger picture, you are not only technically credible across a wide range of technologies, practices and disciplines, but you are also the translation engine for our customers. You actively listen and engage with stakeholders to understand their business problem or outcome and mapping that back to the technical solution that will deliver on those outcomes. A successful ALM consultant has technical depth across the DevOps and monitoring/telemetry and Data Science along with leading and advising C-level executives, and evangelizing solutions.


Responsibility

  • Engaging with technical and business stakeholders to demonstrate the business benefit and value of the ALM services (DevOps, Observability & Telemetry).
  • Architecting solutions, engaging with customers to turn requirements into scope, scope and requirements into design and also help land how it architectural fits into the tooling (DevOps) and the operations/support side.
  • Researching industry trends, providing strategic direction and advice in tools, technologies, partnerships, and accreditations.
  • Defining technology roadmaps and managing a team of engineers during the implementation
  • Defining and implementing full end to end release management and automation solutions using open source and industry leading tools for continuous integration, continuous deployment and continuous delivery.
  • Recommending appropriate DevOps tools and Cloud solutions based on technology stack and other influencing factors.
  • Delivering coaching and training in design, build, and test automation, tooling and DevOps engineering processes to both teams, and individuals.

Requirements

  • 4 years of experience working in DevOps culture
  • Minimum 2 year of consulting experience.
  • A thought-leader through internal and industry engagement, with the ability to inspire and lead with genuine passion for technology and best practice.
  • Have a wealth of experience planning, building and leading large-scale transformation, DevSecOps and testing projects or programmes.
  • Expertise and preferably certifications in the latest tools and technologies such as: Azure, AWS, Terraform, Ansible, Docker, Puppet, Chef, Splunk, SonarQube etc and a understanding of software languages and an appreciation of modern development languages such as Python, Java, C#.
  • Be an evangelist of DevOps methodologies and principles.
  • Experience of coaching and training teams in optimising software engineering and end to end delivery.
  • Have a customer-centric attitude, with extensive experience working in a client-facing environment.

Education

  • BSc (or relevant work experience) in computer science, cyber-security or a related field including engineering, mathematics, and other STEM subjects
  • Industry certifications (CompTIA, MSCA, LPIC) are a bonus.
